Jesús N. has been linked with volunteering for more than 30 years. He has collaborated with the Asociació de Familiars i Amics de Nens Oncològics de Catalunya (Afanoc) and, currently, as a volunteer at the Fundació Once, an entity that cooperates for some years. He recognizes that he has been very lucky in his life and the way he contributes with social causes is volunteering.

He joined the Volunteering at Som – Fundació team last October to accompany José P. in leisure activities.

Another fact that surprised him is that the person who accompanies is the same age as him, what makes him to “question himself many things”. He is well aware that hi has committed to meet José every fifteen days and the following Tuesday José called and remind him that they have the first meeting in two days.

They take advantage to talk about football, about Barça and about topics that may arise. They have planned to go together to the Camp Nou to see their favorite team play. As soon as the football fields open again. Both of them are longing for it!

He emphasizes that José he is a nice person, and everything goes all right. He has accepted the company of Jesus and affirms, “accompanying him is easy, you told me, and it is true

Jesus confesses that he is discovering the world of intellectual disability and the task carried out by the guardianship, a world he did not know before.

He says that he does not know what volunteering will give back to him, but he needs to do this. He has got used to do it.
