It is more attractive, offers more content and, above all, it is more accessible. The Coses Nostres newsletter has undergone a major metamorphosis and has become a bi-monthly, easy-to-read magazine that is sent in physical format to the persons we support and to Future Planning families. It can also be consulted online on the Issuu platform and on our website. In this edition, we talk about sexual diversity and disability.
As you know, in 2009 we started publishing Our Things. At that time, it was conceived as a newsletter with the main news that took place in Som – Fundació. This publication was aimed primarily at persons users and families of the Future Planning program. Over time, Our Things changed: we changed the typography, colors, and design. Besides, we had more and more things to explain and we wanted to make sure that this information was accessible to everyone.
Cognitive accessibility
In 2020, we launched the Cognitive Accessibility program, an initiative designed to facilitate access to information, knowledge and culture for the people we support. This is a working group made up of professionals from Som – Fundació and persons users that meets periodically with the aim of adapting to easy reading all the documentation we generate, in physical or digital format, and adopting forms of communication that overcome the barriers of understanding for people with intellectual disabilities.
.
As a result, this 2021, Coses Nostres has undergone a definitive transformation: it has become a bimonthly 12-page magazine published in easy-to-read.
In this edition, we bring you the story of Toni on the cover, on the occasion of the celebration of LGBT Pride Day. Toni is a person we support who, at the age of 19, realized that he liked men, and explains the support he had from Som – Fundació and the people who support him to express and live his sexuality with freedom.
We hope you like it!
