In 2024, Som – Fundació begins a new chapter with a change in leadership. Josep Tresserras will soon retire after 34 years as the entity’s managing director. His successor, Mario Cuixart, has already joined the team as the new director-general.
The handover will be gradual. During this time, Josep will continue working alongside Mario, supporting the transition to ensure continuity in the organisation’s work and to preserve everything that has been achieved so far.
In addition, Josep will continue to represent Som – Fundació in various networks and organisations at local, national, and international levels, where the foundation is actively involved.
The arrival of Mario Cuixart ensures that the organisation will continue to function effectively while maintaining its core mission to support and defend the rights of people with intellectual disabilities. Mario brings with him a strong background in the social sector and a clear vision for further progress and improvement.
Som – Fundació has experienced significant growth in recent years, with more people supported, a larger team, and new projects underway. In this context, the leadership change is an opportunity to strengthen the organisation’s strategic direction and address future challenges.
In doing so, Som – Fundació reaffirms its commitment to autonomy, inclusion, and the well-being of the people it supports, and aims to continue being a leading reference in the sector.
