A few days ago, Som – Fundació took part in the international conference “Leading Change in Disability Services: Strengthening Capacity for Person-Centred Support”, organised by EASPD, a European event focused on the future of support services for people with disabilities and on the challenges of leadership, sustainability and innovation within the social sector.

Raúl Olivera, technical advisor; Mario Cuixart, manager; and Josep Tresserras, Head of Institutional Relations at our organisation, attended this space for debate and professional exchange, which brought together organisations, professionals and social entities from across Europe. In the picture below, we can see the Catalan delegation made up of professionals from Support-Girona and Som – Fundació.

A European space to share challenges and opportunities

The conference focused on the need to continue transforming support services so they become increasingly community-based, accessible and person-centred. Throughout the different sessions, topics such as team leadership, talent attraction and retention, the financial sustainability of social organisations, digitalisation and innovation in care models were discussed.

Som – Fundació’s participation in this conference allowed us to learn about experiences and initiatives from other European countries, as well as to share reflections on the current challenges facing the disability sector.

It was also an opportunity to strengthen connections with professionals and organisations committed to defending the rights of people with disabilities and to building more inclusive services adapted to each person’s needs.

Participation in a World Café on leadership

On Friday 15, Raúl Olivera and Mario Cuixart took part in a World Café focused on leadership within social organisations. This participatory activity brought together professionals from different European entities to share experiences, concerns and strategies related to team management and service transformation processes.

During the session, participants discussed the importance of close and people-oriented leadership, the need to foster flexible organisational cultures and the value of placing people at the centre of how organisations are managed.

Participating in these kinds of international dynamics helps us continue incorporating new perspectives and tools to keep improving the quality of the support we provide.

Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

At Som – Fundació, we continue to promote training, networking and participation in international spaces that help us grow as an organisation and improve the services and support we offer.

The organisation’s presence at European conferences such as this one reinforces our commitment to person-centred care, social innovation and the construction of a more inclusive society.
