Montserrat Soldevila is a 48-year-old woman we support who has just graduated in Performing Arts from the Manresa School of Performing Arts. Her story is an example of perseverance, dedication, and effort that has resulted in the achievement of one of her greatest dreams: to become a professional actress.
Her curiosity for the performing arts awakened in her when she was a child. She often accompanied her family to the Sala Ciutat. In fact, although none of her family have dedicated themselves professionally to it, she explains that her father, a jeweler by profession, was fond of acting and her grandfather, “a mason with an artist’s soul, also had creative inclinations,” she explains. This environment planted a seed in Montse that, over time, would grow into her profession.
First steps
Life offered Montse an unexpected opportunity: to study for the higher degree in Dramatic Art. “I was selected for a program at the Kursaal Theatre in Manresa. At first, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the process, but I managed to integrate,” she says. Later, she prepared for the entrance exams for the higher degree by reciting a poem by Federico García Lorca, with the support of her teacher, Teti Canal. With perseverance and talent, Montse successfully passed the auditions.
Montse’s path has not been without difficulties. One of the hardest moments was during her first year of studies when her partner had a serious accident and was hospitalized for months in Barcelona. Despite this adversity, Montse decided to continue with her studies, supported by her classmates and teachers. This period strengthened her and taught her the importance of commitment and resilience in the world of theatre. Thus, this May, she graduated in Performing Arts. Her social team, formed by Raquel and Neus, did not want to miss the graduation ceremony.
A future full of theatre
Looking to the future, Montse has a clear path: she wants to direct her artistic career towards clowning, a formula that allows her to combine her passion for improvisation and playing with the audience. Although she also feels attracted to theatre, in clowning she finds a more dynamic and stimulating form, both physically and mentally.
Montse Soldevila’s story is an inspiration for all those who dream of dedicating themselves to theatre. Being on stage is, for her, an indescribable experience that mixes adrenaline and satisfaction. Her journey has not been easy, but her passion and dedication continue to drive her towards new goals and creative projects. Her advice for aspiring artists is clear: have determination and master your fear.
